Places to Visit in Mussoorie
Do not miss these places:
Mall Road
- The main stretch of Mussoorie town. Mall Road runs along the ridge and is lined with shops, cafés, and colonial-era buildings. An evening walk here is the first thing most visitors do
Kempty Falls
- About 15 km from town, Kempty Falls drops sharply into a pool at the base. One of the most visited waterfalls in Uttarakhand and a standard stop on most Mussoorie itineraries.
Lal Tibba
- The highest point on the Mussoorie ridge at roughly 2,275 metres. Telescopes here let you spot peaks including Bandarpunch and Kedarnath. Visit early morning for the clearest sightlines.
Cloud's End
- A quieter viewpoint about 6 km from Mall Road, where the Mussoorie ridge ends and the forest takes over. Less crowded than the central attractions and worth the short drive for the open views.
Company Garden
- A well-maintained garden in the heart of Mussoorie with flower beds, a small boating area, and mountain views on clear days. A relaxed stop for families with children.
Things to Do in Mussoorie
Ride the Gun Hill Cable Car:
The ropeway from Kulri Bazaar to Gun Hill takes about five minutes each way. The views throughout the ride are reason enough to go. It runs through the day and is a good first activity after arriving in town.
Walk Camel's Back Road:
A 3 km loop road named after a rock formation along the path. Early morning is the best time as the valley views are clear and the road is quiet before the town fills up for the day.
Visit Kempty Falls:
For the full effect, go when the water flow is strong. The path to the base is steep, so wear footwear with a good grip on stone and wet surfaces.
Shop at Kulri Bazaar and Mall Road:
Mussoorie's bazaars carry woollen shawls, wooden crafts, local honey, and fruit jams. A good place to pick up things to bring back from the hills before heading home.
Try the Local Food:
Mussoorie's food culture is quiet but worth exploring, with hilltop stalls for Maggi and chai, smaller restaurants for pahadi food, and a few well-run cafés along Mall Road. Eat with a view when you can.
Take a Day Trip to Dhanaulti:
About 25 km from Mussoorie and noticeably quieter. Works well as a half-day side trip, especially in winter when snowfall there is more likely than in Mussoorie itself.
